Glastonbury Festival 2024: The Gateway Preview

Glastonbury Festival’s open-air stage, The Gateway is situated at the top of Glebeland and offers a real variety of acts across the weekend. It’s mostly orientated towards music, but with some fitness and comedy thrown in for good measure.

This year, the schedule is packed full of returning cult favourites like Lekiddo – Lord of the Lobsters and Old Time Sailors as well as all of the below!

The Gateway: Picks of the Weekend

Get yourself warmed up for a long weekend with a workout session on The Gateway with The Body Coach himself, Joe Wicks, who returns following his festival debut last year. As he says below, he’s ‘absolutely buzzing’ about his return.

Land of the Giants / Thursday from 12:05 to 12:35 and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 12:30

For more than a decade, Land of the Giants – a six-piece collective based in Plymouth, Devon – have been charging from coast to coast across the UK, Ireland and as far as India. With a brass section and tons of energy, their set is a whole lot of fun.

New York Brass Band / Thursday from 17:25 to 17:55, Friday from 16:40 to 17:10, Saturday from 17:00 to 17:30 and Sunday from 17:15 to 17:45. Also performing on Outside Circus Stage and others.

We’re not sure anyone brought a better atmosphere to the festival than the wonderful New York Brass Band who brought the party vibe to The Gateway stage. The band is a powerful team of some of Yorkshire’s finest musicians packing an arsenal of percussion, sax, trumpets, trombones and sousaphone.

Otto and Astrid – Die Roten Punkte / Thursday from 13:25 to 14:10 and Saturday from 13:30 to 14:15. Also on The Glebe and Sensation Seekers Stage.

The pop-music comedy duo Otto and Astrid are the two halves of the German punk band, Die Roten Punkte and Berlin’s “Prince and Princess of art rock and Europop.” It’s going to be an interesting show – just check out the music video for their song ‘I Wanna Be Your Kitten’ above!

Mellowmatic / Friday from 15:45 to 16:25, Saturday from 19:35 to 20:20 and Sunday from 15:35 to 16:20

Mellowmatic are a 7-piece collective, formed by musical director Ant Henderson (MD of Jurassic 5’s Soup’s Fullee Love Collective), producer and drummer Marcus Fisher and UK rapper AJ Mayhew aka AGGA. They bring a live set that takes their audience on an eclectic musical journey from the Boom-bap 90’s to present day.
