Missy Impossible review – Glastonbury Festival 2025

Missy Impossible’s A Little More Sensation set demonstrates her incredible skills as Ireland’s only female sword swallower.

It’s a slick, well-rehearsed street-style show that has been lovingly crafted and honed so that Missy Impossible has the audience’s full attention for the show’s entirety – whether it’s jokes or action that draws them.

‘Are you videoing?’ she asks one audience member with a phone in their hand as the show reaches its climax. ‘Please keep filming, you may need to present this in a court of law?’ she adds.

The danger is palpable throughout, and there is something genuinely thrilling about seeing someone swallow a sword – and act that (in keeping with Missy’s name) seems like it should be impossible.

With the help of Will and Amelia, she goes further, performing an adapted (and even more dangerous) version of the bed of nails, as she attempts to lie on a rusty set of 6-inch nails while 18-stone Will stands on her stomach. Amelia demonstrates the danger by sacrificing an apple to the sharp metal sticking out of the wooden board.

Does she manage it? Well, let’s say, despite the seeming impossibility of the task, we saw an uninjured Missy Impossible perform her more risqué act as Missy Fortune in Mavericks later in the week. Impossible? Never.
