Nottingham Playhouse has announced its spring 2025 season programme.
The season includes the regional premiere of BAFTA, Tony, Emmy and Olivier award-winning Dennis Kelly’s Girls & Boys, which debuted at London’s Royal Court Theatre with Carey Mulligan leading the one-woman show. The new production is directed by Anna Ledwich with casting to be announced.
Speaking about the annoucement, Ledwich described the play as “that rare beast: a funny, provocative, shocking and moving play. It lures you in, charms you, and then pulls the rug out from under you.”
Also announced is a new interpretation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm. The co-production with Theatre Royal Stratford East, Leeds Playhouse and Nottingham Playhouse has been adapted by Tatty Hennessy and features direction from Amy Leach.
This will be followed by A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hossein as part of a tour that includes Birmingham Rep and Leeds Playhouse. Adapted for the stage by Ursula Rani Sarma, the ‘spiritual sequel’ to The Kite Runner, set in 1992 in a war-ravaged Afghanistan.
Members tickets are available from 30 September with a general sale from 11 October.
